There are two units of study, Economics and Personal Budgeting and Civics and Citizenship.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>In the Economics and Personal Budgeting unit, students will study:<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Introductory macroeconomics, including: markets forces, the economic problem and types of resources<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Personal financial management, including: taxes and taxation, superannuation, budgeting and developing short, medium and long term financial goals.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Foreign trade, including looking at Australia\u2019s exports and imports.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><b>In the Civics and Citizenship unit, students will study:<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Australia\u2019s political system, including its history and development.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Citizen\u2019s rights and responsibilities in their community and in an increasingly interconnected world.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Australia\u2019s legal and justice systems with a focus on the criminal justice system and young people and the law.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Assessment:<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students\u2019 performance will be determined according to the subject\u2019s Achievement Standards. Grades A to E will be used for reporting purposes. Students understanding and skills will be assessed in a variety of tasks this will include:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SAT 1: Personal Budgeting Report \u2013 exploring personal finance<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SAT 2: Global Pitch Presentation \u2013 exploring international trade<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SAT 3: Political Issues Study \u2013 exploration of current legal issues<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SAT 4: Legal Studies Test<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A ongoing folio of student formative classwork will also be assessed as part of the course.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Leads to: <a href=\"https:\/\/curric.uhs.sa.edu.au\/index.php\/year-10-law-and-globalisation\/\">Year 10 Globalisation, Law &amp; Business<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Level: Year 9 Length: One Semester Recommended background: Satisfactory completion of Year 8 HASS Content: This course aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills to manage their personal finances and be informed and active citizens in their own communities.
