{"id":1736,"date":"2018-07-31T12:21:28","date_gmt":"2018-07-31T02:51:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/curric.uhs.sa.edu.au\/?page_id=1736"},"modified":"2026-06-19T13:55:06","modified_gmt":"2026-06-19T04:25:06","slug":"stage-1-sace-pathways-package","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/curric.uhs.sa.edu.au\/index.php\/stage-1-sace-pathways-package\/","title":{"rendered":"STAGE 1 SACE PATHWAYS PACKAGE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>SACE Credits: <\/strong>110 credits<\/p>\n<p><strong>Length:<\/strong> Full Year<\/p>\n<p><strong>Recommended background: <\/strong>VET course\/Identified Career Pathway or Individual Learning Requirements.<\/p>\n<p>The&nbsp; Integrated&nbsp; Package&nbsp; is&nbsp; designed&nbsp; to&nbsp; meet&nbsp; the&nbsp; needs&nbsp; of&nbsp; students&nbsp; requiring&nbsp;&nbsp; greater&nbsp; flexibility&nbsp;&nbsp; in&nbsp;&nbsp; order&nbsp;&nbsp; to&nbsp;&nbsp; complete&nbsp;&nbsp; their&nbsp;&nbsp; SACE.&nbsp;&nbsp; It incorporates SACE Stage 1 Subjects&nbsp; Workplace Practices, Community Studies,&nbsp;&nbsp; Essential&nbsp;&nbsp; Mathematics&nbsp;&nbsp; and&nbsp;&nbsp; Essential&nbsp;&nbsp; English,&nbsp;&nbsp; which&nbsp;&nbsp; are delivered to ensure maximum flexibility whilst engaging the students in&nbsp; work&nbsp; that&nbsp; is&nbsp; relevant&nbsp; to&nbsp; their&nbsp; individual&nbsp; circumstances.&nbsp; Workplace Practices&nbsp; and&nbsp; Community&nbsp; Studies&nbsp; students&nbsp; will&nbsp; learn&nbsp; a&nbsp; range&nbsp; of concepts&nbsp; and&nbsp; skills&nbsp; to&nbsp; support&nbsp; their&nbsp; career&nbsp; aspirations,&nbsp; supporting them to achieve success.<\/p>\n<p>Students&nbsp;&nbsp; undertaking&nbsp;&nbsp; the&nbsp;&nbsp; SACE Pathways&nbsp;&nbsp; Package&nbsp;&nbsp; will&nbsp;&nbsp; be&nbsp;&nbsp; working&nbsp;&nbsp; toward SACE completion and entry into the TAFE sector, but will not be&nbsp; working&nbsp; toward&nbsp; an&nbsp; ATAR&nbsp; (Australian&nbsp; Tertiary&nbsp; Entrance&nbsp; Rank)&nbsp; for University entrance.<\/p>\n<p>The&nbsp; Integrated&nbsp; Package&nbsp; includes&nbsp; 110&nbsp; of&nbsp; the&nbsp; 200&nbsp; credits&nbsp; required&nbsp; to complete SACE and includes the required compulsory subjects. These include&nbsp; English&nbsp; for&nbsp; a&nbsp; full&nbsp; year,&nbsp; Mathematics&nbsp; for&nbsp; one&nbsp; semester&nbsp; and&nbsp; Research Project.<\/p>\n<p>Additional credits will come from a range of flexible options. These could be:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>An Australian School Based Apprenticeship or Traineeship (ASBA)<\/li>\n<li>A VET Course at Certificate I or higher<\/li>\n<li>One other SACE Stage 1 subject (student choice)<\/li>\n<li>Community Learning<span class=\"\" style=\"display:block;clear:both;height: 0px;padding-top: 20px;border-top-width:0px;border-bottom-width:0px;\"><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Students undertaking any of the above will automatically be offered this pathway through Course Counselling. Similarly, students requiring extra assistance or support to complete the SACE will be able to use this flexible package to assist them to achieve success.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Assessment:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Workplace Practices Stage 1:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>School-based&nbsp; Assessment:&nbsp; 40%<\/li>\n<li>Folio:&nbsp; 30%<\/li>\n<li>Vocational&nbsp; Learning:&nbsp; 30%<\/li>\n<li>Reflection<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Community Studies Stage 1:<\/p>\n<p>Students demonstrate evidence of their learning through four types of assessment:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A Contract of Work<\/li>\n<li>Folio<\/li>\n<li>Community Activity<\/li>\n<li>Reflection<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Community&nbsp; Studies&nbsp; is&nbsp; most&nbsp; successful&nbsp; when&nbsp; students&nbsp; can&nbsp; tap&nbsp; into&nbsp; an&nbsp;extra-curricular activity\/interest\/commitment as a basis.<\/p>\n<p>Essential English Stage 1: School-based Assessment<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assessment type 1: Responding to texts<\/li>\n<li>Assessment type 2: Creating texts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Essential Mathematics Stage 1: School-based Assessment:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>65% Assessment type 1: Skills and Applications Tasks<\/li>\n<li>35% Assessment type 2: Folio of Investigative Assessments<span class=\"\" style=\"display:block;clear:both;height: 0px;padding-top: 20px;border-top-width:0px;border-bottom-width:0px;\"><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Special Requirements: <\/strong>Students must complete the compulsory subjects with a C grade or better to achieve their SACE.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SACE Credits: 110 credits Length: Full Year Recommended background: VET course\/Identified Career Pathway or Individual Learning Requirements.
