Psychology A is not a prerequisite for Psychology B.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The study of psychology enables students to understand their own behaviours and the behaviours of others. Psychological knowledge can be applied to improve outcomes and the quality of experience in various areas of life, such as education, intimate relationships, child rearing, employment and leisure.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Psychology builds on the scientific method by involving students in the collection and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By emphasising evidence-based procedures (i.e. observation, experimentation and experience), the subject allows students to develop useful skills in analytical and critical thinking, and in making inferences by employing evidence-based procedures.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The three <\/span><b>strands<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are integrated throughout the topics:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Science Inquiry skills<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Science as a human endeavour<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Science understanding<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>negotiated topics<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> could include the following:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Forensic Psychology<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cognitive <\/span>Psychology<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>Assessment:<\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students\u2019 performance will be determined according to the subject\u2019s Performance Standards, as outlined by the SACE Board. Completion of this course will support students to continue Ancient Studies or Modern History at Stage 1. <strong><br><br>Assessment:<\/strong> Student performance will be determined according to the subject\u2019s Achievement Standards. Grades A to E will be used for reporting purposes. They will also develop coding skills using the JavaScript scripting language, designing algorithms that incorporate logical operators and visualizing them through flowcharts, structure charts, and pseudocode. As part of their programming journey, students will implement, refine, and debug modular programs, applying relevant algorithms and data structures using JavaScript.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students will critically assess existing digital solutions as well as their own creations, evaluating them based on design criteria, user stories, potential future impacts, and opportunities for innovation. They develop and apply linguistic and intercultural knowledge, understanding, and skills. Students reflect on their own attitudes, beliefs, and values, and develop an understanding of how culture and identity are expressed through language.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students explore three interconnected themes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Relationships<\/li><li>Lifestyles<\/li><li>Experiences<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2014 from the perspectives of \u2018The personal world\u2019 and \u2018The Spanish-speaking communities\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Assessment:<\/strong> Spanish Beginners is an interstate assessed subject developed from the Collaborative Curriculum and Assessment Framework for Languages (CCAFL), which is a national model for the teaching, learning, and assessment of language subjects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students\u2019 performance will be determined according to the subject\u2019s performance standards. Stage 2 Essential English is available to students for whom Stage 2 English is likely to present greater challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this subject, students further develop their understanding and proficiency in the use of the English language as they build on the skills they have in their first language. They respond to and create texts for, a range of personal, social, cultural, community, and\/or workplace contexts. Students understand and interpret information, ideas, and perspectives in texts and consider ways in which language choices are used to create meaning. Students consider the functions of language in their chosen context and the ways in which language is used to support interaction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Assessment:<\/strong> Students\u2019 performance will be determined according to the subject\u2019s Performance Standards, as outlined by the SACE Board. Grades A+ to E- will be used for reporting purposes. Students provide evidence of their learning through seven assessments, including the external assessment component. Students complete:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>three assessments for responding to texts<\/li><li>three assessments for creating texts<\/li><li>one language report.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>School Based Assessment 70%<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Assessment Type 1: Responding to Texts (30%)<\/em>: Students produce three responses to texts. At least one of the responses must be produced in written form, and at least one response in oral or multimodal form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Assessment Type 2: Creating Texts (40%)<\/em>: Students create written, oral, and multimodal texts for procedural, imaginative, analytical, persuasive, and\/or interpretive purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students create:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>one advocacy text that advocates for an issue, cause, or process relevant to a context.<\/li><li>two additional texts which are different from each other and from the advocacy text in purpose, audience, and\/or context.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>External Assessment 30%<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Assessment Type 3: Language Report (30%)<\/em>: For this assessment type, students complete an independent language report. The focus of study is an understanding of the use of spoken, non-verbal, visual, and\/or written language by people in a chosen local, national, or international context.
