This includes reading and examining Australian texts. Students create original imaginative, interpretative and\/or persuasive texts for different purposes, contexts and audiences in written, oral and\/or multimodal forms.&nbsp; Students will analyse connections between texts to explore and evaluate similarities and differences and how texts are constructed to influence responses. This is according to the SACE Stage 1 English requirements. This subject is a prerequisite for Stage 2 English.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Assessment<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students\u2019 performance will be determined according to the subject\u2019s Performance Standards, as outlined by the SACE Board. Grades A to E will be used for reporting purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Across two Semesters, students provide evidence of their learning through eight assessments, with at least two assessments from each assessment type.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Responding to Texts 30%<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>At least two texts which may be written, oral and\/or multimodal (written texts maximum 800 words, orals maximum 5 minutes and multimodal texts should be of equivalent length).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Creating Texts 40%<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>At least two texts for different audiences, contexts and purposes (written texts maximum 800 words, orals maximum 5 minutes and multimodal texts should be of equivalent length).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Intertextual Study 30%<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Two studies must be undertaken. One study should be in response to texts and the other creating texts to demonstrate understanding of intertextuality.
