Performance in years 8-10 English will be taken into account during the selection process for this option. Stage 1 English Literary Studies has the same goals and assessment requirements as Stage 1 English and is based on reading, viewing, writing, listening and speaking for a range of purposes and audiences according to the new SACE Stage 1 English requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Emphasis is placed on reading, reviewing and analysing more complex classic and contemporary texts.&nbsp;<strong>This subject is a prerequisite for Stage 2 Literary Studies.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Assessment<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students\u2019 performance will be determined according to the subject\u2019s Performance Standards, as outlined by the SACE Board. Grades A to E will be used for reporting purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Across two Semesters students provide evidence of their learning through eight assessments, with at least two assessments from each assessment type.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Responding to Texts 40%<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>At least two texts which may be written, oral and\/or multimodal (written texts maximum 800 words, orals maximum 5 minutes and multimodal texts should be of equivalent length).<\/li><li><em>Creating Texts 30%<\/em><\/li><li>At least two texts for different audiences, contexts and purposes (written texts maximum 800 words, orals maximum 5 minutes and multimodal texts should be of equivalent length).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Intertextual Study 30%<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Two studies must be undertaken. One study should be in response to texts and the other creating texts to demonstrate understanding of intertextuality.
