The course is delivered using the Australian Curriculum. Students develop knowledge, understanding and skills in listening, reading, viewing, speaking, and writing in English and build on English language skills and understandings from Year 8. They continue to develop their English language proficiency through developing knowledge, understanding and skills in listening, reading, viewing, speaking, writing and creating.<\/p>\n<p>Students engage with a variety of texts for enjoyment. They listen to, read, write, view, respond to, interpret, evaluate and perform a range of spoken, written and multimodal texts such as newspapers, films, fiction, non-fiction, reports, discussions and multimodal texts. These texts are designed to entertain, engage, inform and persuade. Students will develop a critical understanding of the contemporary media and the differences between media texts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Assessment:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Students\u2019 performance will be determined according to the subject\u2019s Achievement Standards as outlined in the framework of the Australian Curriculum. Grades A to E will be used for reporting purposes.
