A problem-based approach is integral to the development of mathematical models and the associated key concepts in the topics. These topics cover a diverse range of applications of mathematics, including personal financial management, the statistical investigation process, modelling using linear and non-linear functions, and discrete modelling using networks and matrices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Successful completion of this subject at Stage 2 prepares students for entry to tertiary courses requiring a non-specialised background in mathematics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Assessment<\/strong>: Students\u2019 performance will be determined according to the subject\u2019s Performance Standards, as outlined by the SACE Board. Grades A+ to E- will be used for reporting purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>School Assessment (70%)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Assessment Type 1: Skills and Applications Tasks (40%)<\/li><li>Assessment Type 2: Mathematical Investigation (30%)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>External Assessment (30%)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Assessment Type 3: Examination (30%)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Students provide evidence of their learning through eight assessments, including the external assessment component.
