{"id":4245,"date":"2021-07-01T16:05:12","date_gmt":"2021-07-01T06:35:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/curric.uhs.sa.edu.au\/?page_id=4245"},"modified":"2025-07-16T22:52:40","modified_gmt":"2025-07-16T13:22:40","slug":"year-7-mathematics","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/curric.uhs.sa.edu.au\/index.php\/year-7-mathematics\/","title":{"rendered":"Year 7 Mathematics"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Level:\u00a0<\/strong>Year 7<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Length:\u00a0<\/strong>Full Year<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Content:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students will follow the Australian Curriculum course outline:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Number and Place Value \u2013 working with whole numbers and powers.<\/li><li>Real Numbers \u2013 decimals, percentages, rates and ratios.<\/li><li>Money and Financial Mathematics \u2013 profit and loss.<\/li><li>Patterns and Algebra \u2013 working with and simplifying expressions.<\/li><li>Linear and non-Linear Relationships \u2013 use of graphs and graphing processes.<\/li><li>Geometric Reasoning \u2013 properties of shapes and their application.<\/li><li>Using Units of Measurement \u2013 perimeters, areas, volumes, time intervals.<\/li><li>Chance \u2013 elementary probability techniques.<\/li><li>Data Representation and Interpretation \u2013 working with elementary statistical techniques.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Assessment:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students\u2019 performance will be determined according to the subject\u2019s Achievement Standards as outlined in the mathematics framework of the Australian Curriculum. Grades A-E will be used for reporting purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A range of assessment tools will be used to gauge student performance and readiness for the next year.&nbsp; Students will be assessed in each of the topics using a combination of tests, assignments and exercises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Special Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students in all Maths classes are provided with materials and activities which enrich and enhance the learning program to meet the range of abilities and learning styles of all students in these classes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students are placed in mixed ability classes in Year 7 for the whole year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A scientific calculator is required.
