Through the study of these topics students will develop the ability to:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Design and conduct experiments<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Analyse and interpret data and information<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Relate chemical concepts to real life situations<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Conduct research in an area of personal interest<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Work collaboratively<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Communicate in a variety of formats.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Assessment<\/b>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students\u2019 performance will be determined according to the subject\u2019s Performance Standards, as outlined by the SACE Board. Grades A+ to E- will be used for reporting purposes.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students demonstrate their learning in Stage 2 Chemistry through eight assessments, comprising:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">School Assessment (70%)<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Assessment Type 1: Investigations Folio (30%)<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One practical investigation<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One investigation with a focus on science as a human endeavour<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Assessment Type 2: Skills and Applications Tasks (40%)<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Four skills and applications tasks<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Assessment Type 3: Examination (30%).<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One examination<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Level: Stage 2 SACE Credits: 20 credits Length: Full Year Recommended background: Students must have successfully completed Chemistry A and B at Stage 1 with at least a B grade, and have the recommendation of their Stage 1 Chemistry teacher.
