Students can choose both Stage 1 PE A and B.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Recommended background: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">B or above for <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/curric.uhs.sa.edu.au\/index.php\/year-10-physical-education-extension\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Year 10 Physical Education (Extension)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and a recommendation from subject teacher<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Content:\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Physical Education, students investigate improvements in physical activity participation or performance. They collect a range of evidence and apply their understanding of movement concepts to evaluate aspects of their own or others\u2019 physical activity and implement strategies to improve their performance and\/or participation. The course uses sports and physical activity as a vehicle to develop understanding of key topics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students will:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Participate in traditional and modified versions of sports and collect evidence to evaluate factors that affect inclusivity and participation<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Work in groups to modify a traditional sport to improve inclusivity and\/or performance<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Participate in team sports to consider and apply skill acquisition concepts that support practice and improvement of simple skills and movement concepts and strategies in the sport<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Participate in a sport, analyse a movement skill and identify what biomechanical changes would be needed to improve the performance of that skill<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use a variety of technology and pen and paper tools to collect and critically analyse evidence about physical activity\u00a0 <span class=\"\" style=\"display:block;clear:both;height: 0px;padding-top: 20px;border-top-width:0px;border-bottom-width:0px;\"><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Assessment:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students\u2019 performance will be determined according to the subject\u2019s Performance Standards, as outlined by the SACE Board. Grades A to E will be used for reporting purposes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Practical skills are not assessed. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students will provide evidence of their learning through three assessments. They will undertake:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">1x Performance Improvement Task: Biomechanics (Part 1 worth 30%) and stages of learning for skill improvement (Part 2 worth 30%) (60% total)<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1x Physical Activity Investigation: Modified vs traditional games (40%)<span class=\"\" style=\"display:block;clear:both;height: 0px;padding-top: 20px;border-top-width:0px;border-bottom-width:0px;\"><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Special Requirements:\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Unley High School PE uniform must be worn during all practical lessons.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Leads to: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/curric.uhs.sa.edu.au\/index.php\/stage-2-physical-education\/\">Stage 2 Physical Education<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Level: Stage 1 SACE Credits: 10 credits Length: One Semester Physical Education A is not a prerequisite for Physical Education B.
