Outdoor Education A is not a prerequisite for Outdoor Education B<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Recommended background: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">B or above for <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/curric.uhs.sa.edu.au\/index.php\/year-10-outdoor-education\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Year 10 Outdoor Education<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and a recommendation from Year 10 OE teacher<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Content:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During this course students will gain an understanding of ecology, environmental sustainability, cultural perspectives and physical and emotional health, through participating in outdoor activities.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Activities will include a three-day surfing camp and outdoor rock climbing, that will involve two training sessions within class time to develop skills. Students also develop skills in planning risk and safety management and reflect on environmental practices.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Theoretical assessment tasks covered in the course will include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Environment and Conservation<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Planning and Management<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Outdoor Activities<span class=\"\" style=\"display:block;clear:both;height: 0px;padding-top: 20px;border-top-width:0px;border-bottom-width:0px;\"><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Assessment:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students\u2019 performance will be determined according to the subject\u2019s Performance Standards, as outlined by the SACE Board. Grades A to E will be used for reporting purposes. Students demonstrate evidence of their learning through the following assessment types:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">About Natural Environments<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Environmental Investigation: Dune Study (40%)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Experiences in Natural Environments\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Surfing camp reflection (20%)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rock climbing reflection and park investigation (40%)<span class=\"\" style=\"display:block;clear:both;height: 0px;padding-top: 20px;border-top-width:0px;border-bottom-width:0px;\"><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Special Requirements:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This course requires a high degree of personal commitment. Students choosing this course must be prepared to fully commit themselves to the various activities and journeys involved in Outdoor Education. They will be accountable to themselves and to the class for appropriate participation and completion of these activities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No refunds will be given if a student withdraws from the course or does not attend a camp or excursion without a medical certificate.
