They consider the role of Health and Wellbeing in various contexts and explore ways of promoting positive health outcomes for individuals, communities, and a global society.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Health and Wellbeing is influenced by diverse social and cultural attitudes, beliefs and practices. An awareness and analysis of the health and wellbeing status of individuals, communities and global societies incorporates health determinants, inequities, barriers and strategies. Student agency is promoted through providing opportunities to make responsible choices and decisions. Students explore and develop skills as agents and advocates for change and consider moral and ethical perspectives.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Health and Wellbeing addresses the following concepts:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Health Literacy<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Health Determinants<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Social Equality<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Health Promotion<span class=\"\" style=\"display:block;clear:both;height: 0px;padding-top: 20px;border-top-width:0px;border-bottom-width:0px;\"><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<p><strong>Assessment<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students\u2019 performance will be determined according to the subject\u2019s Performance Standards, as outlined by the SACE Board. Grades A to E will be used for reporting purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Practical Action task \u2013 (40%)&nbsp;<ul><li>Students work in groups to research and implement a health promotion strategy to the class. The students will select a contemporary health issue and look to improve the health and wellbeing of classmates within their presentation.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Issue Inquiry task x2 \u2013&nbsp; (30% each task)<ul><li>Inquiry 1 &#8211; Inquiry 1 \u2013 Mental Health &amp; Pop Culture \u2013 A look at how mental health is portrayed in mainstream media (e.g. movies, music, TV shows, social media etc.)&nbsp;<\/li><li>Inquiry 2 &#8211; Sexual health and technology &#8211; An analysis of how technology has had an impact on our sexual behaviour and sexual health<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Leads to: <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/curric.uhs.sa.edu.au\/index.php\/stage-2-health\/\"><strong>Stage 2 Health &amp; Wellbeing<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Level: Stage 1 SACE Credits: 10 credits Length: One Semester Content: Students develop the knowledge, skills and understandings required to explore and analyse health concepts and make informed opinions regarding Health and Wellbeing for themselves and others.
