The Maths Plus course will further develop students\u2019 mathematical knowledge and skills in preparation for studying Stage 1 Mathematical Methods and Stage 1 Specialist Mathematics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Topics as suggested by the Australian Curriculum are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Number \u2013 fractional exponents and surds<\/li><li>Algebra \u2013 discriminant, irrational roots, trigonometric functions<\/li><li>Space \u2013 circle theorems<\/li><li>Probability \u2013 counting principles<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of the semester, students will be expected to sit for a year level common test. This assessment, together with other results, will be used to gauge student performance and readiness for the next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Assessment<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students\u2019 performance will be determined according to the subject\u2019s Achievement Standards as outlined in the framework of the Australian Curriculum. Grades A to E will be used for reporting purposes. Students will be assessed in each of the topics using a combination of tests and written investigations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Special Requirements<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A graphics calculator is required for this course (the TI 84-plus is the preferred model).
