Subject is open to any students. Membership to the school rowing club is also a prerequisite.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Content:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This course is aimed at students with demonstrated skills and commitment in rowing who wish to spend time in the development of the skills and knowledge associated with sweep rowing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Students will be given the opportunity to:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Learn sound sweep rowing technique with a satisfactory level of competency, efficiency and consistency<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gain knowledge and understanding of the major principles associated with correct sweep technique<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Maintain a high level of fitness to ensure correct technique<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Develop a high level of organisational and interpersonal skills.<span class=\"\" style=\"display:block;clear:both;height: 0px;padding-top: 20px;border-top-width:0px;border-bottom-width:0px;\"><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Theory topics will include developing a personal fitness profile, pathways available in rowing beyond school, Australia\u2019s rowing status in the international arena, the application of technology in rowing, sports psychology, time management skills, and the development of race plans.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rowing as a subject requires students to be motivated academically and physically. All students in the course are expected to maintain an appropriate standard of behaviour and a positive attitude to school, sport and study.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Assessment:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students\u2019 performance will be determined according to the subject\u2019s Achievement Standards as outlined in the framework of the Australian Curriculum. Grades A to E will be used for reporting purposes. Students will be assessed in the following areas throughout each semester:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Practical skills<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Performance fitness appraisals<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Commitment \/ attitude \/ effort \/ collaboration \/ communication skills<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Theory assignments on topics covered.<span class=\"\" style=\"display:block;clear:both;height: 0px;padding-top: 20px;border-top-width:0px;border-bottom-width:0px;\"><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Special Requirements: <\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Unley High School PE\/Rowing uniform must be worn to all practical and fitness lessons.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Subject Fee: <\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Charges associated with hire of buses, instructors and an equipment levy incur a subject levy of $300<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Level: Year 10 Length: One Semester Recommended background: Students are accepted into the course through a selection process.
