Students study a period of industrialisation and rapid change in the ways people lived, worked, and thought. They will explore the era of&nbsp;nationalism&nbsp;and&nbsp;imperialism, and the expansion of European power, which had significant effects on First Nations Peoples globally, and the first World War I.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students will complete a combination of depth studies that may include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Making A Nation, including exploration of conflict and contact between European settlers and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, the experiences of non-European settlers and the shaping of Australia\u2019s political identity through Federation and the building of democratic affairs.<\/li><li>The impact of World War One, with a particular emphasis on Australia, the use of propaganda to influence the civilian population and the conscription debate.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Assessment:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students\u2019 performance will be determined according to the subject\u2019s Achievement Standards. Grades A to E will be used for reporting purposes. Students understanding and skills will be assessed in a variety of tasks that may include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>An extended response.<\/li><li>A source analysis museum piece on Making a nation.<\/li><li>An essay on the significant events of World War 1<\/li><li>In-class timed and supervised tasks e.g. essay \/ tests<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Leads to:<\/strong> <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/curric.uhs.sa.edu.au\/index.php\/year-10-history\/\">Year 10 History<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/curric.uhs.sa.edu.au\/index.php\/year-10-law-and-globalisation\/\">Year 10 Globalisation, Law &amp; Business<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Level:\u00a0Year 9 Length:\u00a0One Semester Content: Students study the Making of the Modern World 1750 to 1918 from the Year 9 Australian Curriculum History course.
