{"id":596,"date":"2017-05-10T13:08:45","date_gmt":"2017-05-10T03:38:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/curric.uhs.sa.edu.au\/?page_id=596"},"modified":"2025-07-20T12:36:01","modified_gmt":"2025-07-20T03:06:01","slug":"year-10-metalwork","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/curric.uhs.sa.edu.au\/index.php\/year-10-metalwork\/","title":{"rendered":"Year 10 Metalwork"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Level: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Year 10<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Length: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One Semester<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Content:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In this course students will develop skills in working with a variety of materials and will learn a range of skills including;<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Oxy-Acetylene Welding<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MIG Welding<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lathe processes, such as facing, tapering and knurling<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Milling processes<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CAD\/CAM skills through the use of Plasma Cutting technology<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students will have the opportunity to design and manufacture projects of their own design, working through the design process to develop a brief, generate ideas through research, and refine designs through sketches.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Projects may include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Quick action clamp<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tack hammer<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hacksaw<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Swivel stool<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brazier<span class=\"\" style=\"display:block;clear:both;height: 0px;padding-top: 20px;border-top-width:0px;border-bottom-width:0px;\"><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Assessment:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students\u2019 performance will be determined according to the subject\u2019s Achievement Standards as outlined in the framework of the Australian Curriculum.
