They will learn how to develop a made to measure sewing pattern, making custom adjustments to fit their needs and design ideas. They will examine areas of disadvantage in society and produce an item that enhances quality of life for individuals. Students will develop personalised textiles through the manipulation of fabric e.g. use of the laser cutter.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students will develop knowledge and skills through working within teams, using the design process, project management and fabric selection.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Additionally, they will further their ability to work with technologies which may include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sewing machines<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Overlockers<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Illustrator, Photoshop, specialty apps\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Laser cutter <span class=\"\" style=\"display:block;clear:both;height: 0px;padding-top: 20px;border-top-width:0px;border-bottom-width:0px;\"><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Examples of projects may include;<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Drawstring bag<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Track pants\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Crochet blanket (community project)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Skirts<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students are responsible for purchasing the fabric and notion requirements for the garments.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Assessment:\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students\u2019 performance will be determined according to the subject\u2019s Achievement Standards as outlined in the framework of the Australian Curriculum. Grades A to E will be used for reporting purposes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students will:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>provide evidence of their understanding of the design process through theory and practical applications.
