They will communicate their designs through technical drawings using traditional methods, as well as Computer Aided Design drawing software.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Students may elect to undertake this course with a focus on Metalwork or Art Metalwork.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Metalwork incorporates welding, fabrication, sheet metal and machining. The course will cover oxy-acetylene and MIG welding with time spent on skills development. Students will develop skills using machinery including lathe work, guillotine and plasma cutting, as well as hand tool skills.<\/p>\n<p>Art Metal incorporates various jewellery making techniques including silver soldering, working of base metals such as nickel silver copper and silver, the use of a large range of hand tools, Plasma cutting technology and various polishing and finishing methods.<\/p>\n<p>In both courses safe work practices will be emphasised and explained.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Assessment:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Students\u2019 performance will be determined according to the subject\u2019s Performance Standards, as outlined by the SACE Board.
