The course includes creative skill-building tasks, Visual Study, and folio development leading to the creation of a major artwork.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Practical work offers the opportunity to experiment with materials and techniques, make connections between historical and contemporary practices, and begin to develop a personal and creative visual language. You will experiment with a broad range of media such as drawing, painting, printmaking, mixed media, sculpture, assemblage, and\/or digital art.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The course explores technical and expressive approaches to artmaking through the study of a wide range of artistic movements and concepts. These may include historical styles such as Classicism, Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo, Impressionism, and Post-Impressionism in Semester 1, and 20th-century movements like Surrealism, Dada, Pop Art, and Op Art in Semester 2.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students who choose to study the subject for a full year will benefit from a broader and more in-depth exploration of art practices. By extending their study across both semesters, students will not repeat the same media, historical styles, or movements, but will instead continue to build confidence and expand their understanding through new experiences and content.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b style=\"font-size: inherit; font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, Oxygen-Sans, Ubuntu, Cantarell, 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif;\">Semester A<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The focus will be on developing technical skills and exploring rational concepts through the study of key art movements that shaped the history of <\/span><b>Fine Art<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. You will investigate movements such as <\/span><b>Classicism<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>Renaissance<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>Baroque<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>Rococo<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>Impressionism<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and <\/span><b>Post-Impressionism<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, making connections between historical styles and contemporary practice.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Semester B<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The focus will be on expressive and emotional concepts in art. You will study major 20th-century movements such as <\/span><b>Surrealism<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>Dada<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>Pop Art<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and <\/span><b>Op Art<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, while continuing to develop their practical work through experimentation and personal interpretation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Assessment:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students\u2019 performance will be determined according to the subject\u2019s Achievement Standards as outlined in the framework of the Australian Curriculum. Grades A to E will be used for reporting purposes.
