However, provision exists for students who have been studying a musical instrument outside of class to join the Year 10 Music class. Please contact the Arts Coordinator or Music Teacher for further enrolment requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Content<\/strong>: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cMusic opens doors\u2014step into a world of performance, passion, and possibility.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This course is designed for students who have been studying an instrument with a specialised teacher for 1 to 2 years. Focus on further developing your instrumental skills in both solo and ensemble settings, songwriting and composition. The aim is to create a pathway into SACE Stage 1 and 2 Music, both Advanced Music and Ensemble Performance. Many opportunities to perform to an audience as part of the course work and assessment are available. It is expected that you are able to attend and participate in performances and after hours commitment to personal practice is essential for success.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Available instruments are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Woodwind: <\/strong>Flute, Clarinet, Alto and Tenor Saxophone<\/li><li><strong>Brass: <\/strong>Trumpet, Trombone, Euphonium<\/li><li><strong>Percussion: <\/strong>Drum Kit, Tuned and Untuned Percussion<\/li><li><strong>Bass Guitar<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Strings: <\/strong>Violin, Viola and Cello<\/li><li><strong>Voice: <\/strong>Vocalists are encouraged to learn a second instrument<\/li><li><strong>Piano:<\/strong> <strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>Piano students are encouraged to learn a second instrument for ensemble performance (one-on-one lessons can be arranged via our Private Music Instructor, cost is $37 per half hour lesson)<\/li><li><strong>Guitar<\/strong>: Classical, Electric and Acoustic Guitar (one-on-one lessons can be arranged via our Private Music Instructor, cost is $37 per half hour lesson)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Music provides authentic experiences for students to practise and demonstrate the Unley High School values of respect, excellence, diversity and community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Assessment:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students will engage in a variety of assessments types and methods:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Music Performance &#8211; Class Ensembles\/Band, School Ensembles and Solo Performance<\/li><li>Musical Literacy and Composition\/Songwriting<\/li><li>Music Appreciation and Analysis<\/li><li>Reflecting and Evaluating Music Performance<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Special Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Attend instrumental lessons with a qualified teacher<\/li><li>Provide their own instrument or hire an instrument through the school\u2019s hire program<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/uhs.sa.edu.au\/instrumentalmusic\/\">Instrumental Music<strong> <\/strong>information<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Leads to:<\/strong>\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/curric.uhs.sa.edu.au\/index.php\/stage-1-music-advanced\/\">Stage 1 Music Advanced\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>and\/or<strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/curric.uhs.sa.edu.au\/index.php\/stage-1-music-performance-ensemble\/\">Stage 1 Music Performance &#8211; Ensemble<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Level:&nbsp;Year 10 Length:&nbsp;Full Year&nbsp;\u2013 includes free instrumental tuition Recommended background: It is recommended that students wishing to undertake this course have studied Year 9 Music.
