Students will choose a specialisation in either<strong> Performance <\/strong>or<strong> Music Production<\/strong> (this includes computer based composition\/singer songwriters\/sound engineering)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Content: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;Music builds skills that last a lifetime.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let Me Entertain You &#8211; If you are a performer, composer or music producer, this course will set the scene for the real world of the music industry that requires musicians to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>work in various contexts and settings<\/li><li>develop their skills to collaborate with other musicians in solo and ensemble performance&nbsp;<\/li><li>record and share compositions\/arrangements through the use of music production technologies in the studio or for a live audience<\/li><li>build your visual brand and artist profile<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Studying Year 11 music sets the groundwork for Stage 2 Ensemble and Solo Performance, and\/or Stage 2 Music Explorations.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Music provides authentic experiences for students to practise and demonstrate the Unley High School values of respect, excellence, diversity and community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pathways:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This subject prepares students for further study in music at a tertiary level and supports career pathways in performance, composition, music education, and the broader creative arts industry. <a href=\"https:\/\/able.adelaide.edu.au\/music\/study#our-study-areas\">Study | Elder Conservatorium of Music | University of Adelaide<\/a>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Assessment:<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Assessment at Stage 1 is school based. Students will be assessed against the SACE Stage 1 Music Performance Standards. Students will provide evidence of their learning through four assessments each semester.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>AT1: Three creative works (eg solo\/ensemble performance and or compositing\/arranging) (80%)<\/li><li>AT2: One musical literacy task (eg musical techniques test, analysis, discussion, evaluation) (20%)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Special Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Attend instrumental lessons with a qualified teacher<\/li><li>Provide their own instrument or hire an instrument through the school\u2019s hire program<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/uhs.sa.edu.au\/instrumentalmusic\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/uhs.sa.edu.au\/instrumentalmusic\/\">Instrumental Music<strong> <\/strong>information<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Leads To:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/curric.uhs.sa.edu.au\/index.php\/stage-2-music-explorations-20-sace-credits\/\">Stage 2 Music Explorations (20 credits)&nbsp;<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/curric.uhs.sa.edu.au\/index.php\/stage-2-music-ensemble-performance\/\">Stage 2 Music Performance \u2013 Ensemble (10 credits)<\/a> and\/or&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/curric.uhs.sa.edu.au\/index.php\/stage-2-music-solo-performance\/\">Stage 2 Music Performance \u2013 Solo<\/a> (10 credits). <br><br>Instrumental teachers and Music faculty staff will advise the best combination of Stage 2 music subject options for each student.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Level:&nbsp;Stage 1 SACE Credits: 20&nbsp;credits (10 credits may be negotiated on an individual basis) Length:&nbsp;Full Year&nbsp; Recommended background: To undertake Stage 1 Music students should have successfully completed a full year of Year 10 Music or apply to audition\/interview with the Arts Coordinator or Music Teacher.
