Year 10 Design B

LEVEL: Year 10

LENGTH: 1 Semester or a Full Year

Recommended background: Completion of Year 9 Art or Year 9 Design is Preferred.

Content:

This course will build up on the skills developed in Year 9 Design and enable students to work through the design process in depth. Students will work with Photoshop, Illustrator, Animate and InDesign to solve a variety of design problems. They will also continue to explore manual skills in a variety of drawing, painting and sculpting media. They will undertake a short Visual Study; a link to the SACE. The Internet will be used to assist with students’ research. Over the year, they will gain experience in two of three areas of design:

Semester B:

  • Environmental Design – Architecture and Interior Design.
  • Design Theory will include the Visual Study and other design related tasks, on a specific topic and analysis, related to historical or contemporary Design. Students intending to progress to Stage 1 Art or Design are advised to also study Art or Design for a semester at Year 10.

Assessment:

Students’ performance will be determined according to the subject’s Achievement Standards as outlined in the framework of the Australian Curriculum. Grades A to E will be used for reporting purposes.

Special Requirements: Students are required to supply an A3 Display Folio.
