YEAR 7 & 8 MATHEMATIQUES (FBBP)

Length: Full year

This subject is part of the French Bilingual/Binational Program and is taught English and in French.

Prerequisite: Students must have been accepted into the program to study this subject and have age -appropriate Mathematics.

The Year 7 & 8 Mathematics (FBBP) program is based on concepts identified in the Australian Curriculum and aims to develop students’ knowledge, skills and understandings as described in the achievement standard for years 7 and 8.

Topics include:

  • Whole numbers & Operations
  • Fractions, Decimals and percentages
  • Introduction to Algebra
  • Writing and solving equations
  • Angles, lines and shapes
  • Percentages and Financial Mathematics
  • Measurement:  Length, area, perimeter and volume 
  • Statistics and provabilityRatios and rates

Assessment: Students’ work will be assessed against the Australian Curriculum. Grades A to E will be used for reporting purposes. There will be a minimum of two different assessment tasks per term. These may include Written tests, Research projects, Investigations  and  Text production,

Subject Fee: This subject is covered by the French Bilingual Program fee.
