Recommended background: B or above in Year 8 Health and Physical Education and an interest in a SACE Physical Education pathway
Content:
This course is designed for students who are interested in studying SACE Physical Education in their senior years at Unley.
Students will participate in a variety of practical sports and activities as a way of developing and applying understanding of theory concepts.
Theory topics:
- Factors affecting performance
- Fitness and training principles
- Participation in organised sport
- Sport coaching
Practical activities:
- Volleyball
- Netball
- Ultimate Frisbee
- Basketball
- Football codes
- Fitness
- Other, as negotiated with the class
Assessment:
Students’ performance will be determined according to the subject’s Achievement Standards as outlined in the framework of the Australian Curriculum. Grades A to E will be used for reporting purposes.
Students will be assessed through assignments based on theory concepts, and their knowledge and understanding of tactical understanding, collaboration, and game awareness in practical activities.
Special Requirements:
Unley High School PE uniform must be worn during all practical lessons.
