‘Drama develops creativity, confidence, and strong collaboration skills.’
Year 9 Drama will consolidate and build on your knowledge of performance, analysis and design. You will learn a range of performance styles, techniques, dramatic forms and intentions. Collaborating in small groups and as a whole class ensemble, you’ll develop performance outcomes presented to peers and the community.
You will continue to develop your understanding of the dramatic elements with a focus on characterisation, movement, and voice. After viewing a live theatre performance, literary skills in evaluation and analysis will be developed. There will also be the opportunity to undertake an off-stage role in a variety of areas linked to design and construction such as set, costume, lighting, sound and multimedia.
Assessment:
Students’ performance will be determined according to the subject’s Achievement Standards as outlined in the framework of the Australian Curriculum. Grades A to E will be used for reporting purposes.This includes assessment of achievement in exploring and responding, developing practices and skills, creating and making, presenting and performing.
