STAGE 2 TOURISM

SACE Credits: 20 credits

Length: Full Year

In Tourism, students develop an understanding of the nature of tourists, tourism, and the tourism industry. They investigate local, national, and global tourism; and explore tourism as a business. Students gain an understanding of the complex economic, social, cultural and environmental impacts of tourism. A student’s understanding of the sustainable management of tourism is central to the subject.

An optional 4–5-night camp is offered as part this subject.

Assessment: Students’ performance will be determined according to the subject’s Performance Standards, as outlined by the SACE Board. Grades A+ to E- will be used for reporting purposes. Students understanding and skills will be assessed in a variety of tasks that may include:

  • An Individual Investigation (25%) which involves the independent identification, selection, analysis, and evaluation of primary and secondary sources of information about a tourism trend, development, and/or issue, before making recommendations based on the findings.
