Students can choose Stage 2 Sport, Fitness and Recreation OR Stage 2 PE, but not both

Recommended background: Stage 1 Fitness or Stage 1 Physical Education A or B

Content:

This subject is studied through Stage 2 Integrated Learning. Students work collaboratively and individually to develop and apply knowledge, concepts and skills related to sport, recreation and personal fitness. They develop and reflect on capabilities and their own progress in their learning

Students will:

  • plan and implement personal health and wellbeing programs
  • develop and practice coaching skills 
  • work collaboratively to plan and run sport/movement related events
  • participate in sports chosen by the class to develop skills and tactics
  • reflect on their learning related to the subject
  • reflect on the development of selected capabilities 

Assessment:

Students’ performance will be determined according to the subject’s Performance Standards, as outlined by the SACE Board. Grades A+ to E- will be used for reporting purposes.

Practical skills are not assessed. Students will provide evidence of their learning through five assessments.

2x practical inquiry (40%)

Analysis of own skills and/or tactics in two different sports as chosen by the class

2x connections (30%)

In a group, plan, implement and reflect on:

  • a movement based school/year level event
  • a tournament for a middle school PE class

1x personal endeavour (30% externally assessed)

Plan, implement and reflect on a 6-week personal fitness and/or nutrition plan 

Special Requirements:

Unley High School PE uniform must be worn during all practical lessons.
