Year 9 Design

Level: Year 9

Length: One Semester or a Full Year

Content:

“Develop your own design style and transform your ideas from sketch to final product.”

Do you want to build your creative thinking skills and learn how to come up with great ideas? In year 9 Design, you will explore the fundamental elements and principles of design and apply them through a guided design process.

Assessment tasks will cover the three key areas of design: communication, environmental, and product design. Working individually and in small groups, you will develop imaginative ideas and transform them into resolved design solutions. You will document your creative process in an ongoing folio and evaluate your development along the way. Throughout the course, you’ll also experiment with a range of media and materials, building practical skills that can be applied across other learning areas.

Assessment:

Students’ performance will be determined according to the subject’s Achievement Standards as outlined in the framework of the Australian Curriculum. Grades A to E will be used for reporting purposes. This includes assessment of achievement in exploring and responding, developing practices and skills, creating and making, presenting and performing.
