Semester A and Semester B
Students explore various areas of design including materials, techniques and design practitioners based on previous knowledge of the design process. Each semester different areas of design will be learnt such as graphic, product and architectural.
In Year 10 Design, you will build on the skills developed in Year 9 Design and undertake assessment tasks that allow you to work through the design process in more depth. You will continue to develop practical skills in a variety of drawing, sketching, drafting, digital programs, and three dimensional models. You will explore design from a theoretical and historical context by undertaking a short Visual Study, preparing you for study at SACE level. You will have the opportunity to develop skills using a variety of technologies, such as the Adobe Creative Suite.
Students intending to progress to Stage 1 Art and Stage 1 Design are advised to study Design and/or Art for at least one semester in Year 10.
Assessment:
Students’ performance will be determined according to the subject’s Achievement Standards as outlined in the framework of the Australian Curriculum. Grades A to E will be used for reporting purposes.This includes assessment of achievement in exploring and responding, developing practices and skills, creating and making, presenting and performing.
