Recommended background: Year 9 Health and Physical Education

Subject Focus Areas:

All Year 10 students undertake one compulsory semester of Health and Physical Education and/or Health and Wellbeing.Year 10 Health and Wellbeing  introduces students to the concepts taught in Stage 1 and 2 Health and Wellbeing and is set up as an introduction to SACE Health. Students will learn decision making skills associated with the topics taught and will be involved in various practical sessions to promote their learning and understanding of health issues. They consider the role of Health and Wellbeing in various contexts and explore ways of promoting positive health outcomes for individuals, communities and a global society.

Content:

During this course, students will be provided with opportunities to explore health and society issues involved in the following topics:

  • Health Promotion (Wellbeing of Others)
  • Sugar Consumption
  • Mental Health in Pop Culture
  • Sexual Health & Relationships

Assessment:

Students’ performance will be determined according to the subject’s Achievement Standards in combination with the Australian Curriculum and SACE frameworks. Grades A to E will be used for reporting purposes.

Special Requirements: Unley High School PE uniform will be required for some practical sessions.
