Content:

This course will encourage students to think like a photographer, looking at the world around themselves in a new way. This course will prepare students for SACE level Photography where they will develop professional skills using DSLR cameras and explore possible career pathways.

Students will be introduced to skills in digital photography including:

  • Camera handling
  • Composition
  • Digital editing and post-production techniques in Photoshop and Lightroom
  • Macro Photography
  • Advertising
  • Hyperlapse/Stop Motion

Students develop a portfolio of work throughout the course, which will culminate in a major task with accompanying folio and product record. Students will have access to a range of digital cameras or may choose to bring their own. The school also offers a full year subscription to Adobe software for $10 on students’ personal devices.

Assessment:

Students’ performance will be determined according to the subject’s Achievement Standards as outlined in the framework of the Australian Curriculum. Grades A to E will be used for reporting purposes.

Practical: 60%
Written: 40%
