Content:
This course will focus on food and nutrition. Students will expand on their knowledge of the Australian Guide for Healthy Eating for teenagers and food nutrients. Students plan, prepare and serve foods which are appealing to adolescent tastes and reflect Australia’s multicultural society. Students will cover units ranging from healthy lunches, nutrition for athletes and sustainability on food waste. Students will gain an understanding of how to analyse food recipes according to their nutritional value and how these nutrients can impact a person’s life.
Food practicals could include;
- Blueberry Pancakes
- Thai green curry
- Lamb Kofta
- Homemade pizza
- Chicken and tomato casserole
- Minestrone soup
- Spanakopita
Assessment:
Students performance will be determined according to the subject’s Achievement Standards as outlined in the framework of the Australian Curriculum. Grades A to E will be used for reporting purposes.
