Content:
Community Connections is completed within another SACE Stage 2 subject. Community Connections provides the opportunity for success for student who has a an interest in a SACE Stage 2 subject, but who choose to demonstrate their learning in an individually differentiated assessment plan.
Students may enrol in Community Connections from the beginning of the year, or transfer their enrolment from the selected Stage 2 subject to Community Connections part way through the year. In either scenario, their learning is based on some of the learning requirements for the selected Stage 2 subject
Students may complete up to 60 credits of Community Connections in the following areas;
- Humanities and Social Sciences Connections
- STEM Connections
- Practical Connections
- Interdisciplinary Connections
Assessment:
Students demonstrate evidence of their learning through three types of assessment:
- Folio (50%), which includes minimum of 4 assessment tasks. Students collect evidence that shows specific learning requirements from the selected Stage 2 subject, and addresses their development of knowledge, concepts and skills related to the selected SACE Stage 2 subject.
- Reflection (20%) to a maximum of 1500 words or equivalent, on the development of knowledge, concepts, skills and new understandings related to the selected Stage 2 subject.
- Community Application Activity (30% externally assessed), this report and presentation of evidence should be a maximum of 1500 words if written or equivalent. As a guide, the student undertakes the community application activity in approximately 20 hours.
Subject Cost: Nil (except where a student chooses a Community Activity that may incur some personal expenses)
