Recommended background: It is strongly recommended that students have successfully completed SACE Stage 1 Furniture Design & Construction A and /or Stage 1 Furniture Design & Construction B.
Content:
Through this course students will develop their skills in using the design process to design and construct a product of their choice. They will use contemporary and traditional furniture construction techniques, and may use CNC technology in their project, such as laser cutting or plasma cutting.
Their design development will be presented through a folio, inclusive of a brief, product analysis and an analysis of the impact of technological process on individuals and the environment. Students will communicate their design ideas using a variety of methods including technical drawings using traditional methods, as well as Computer Aided Design drawing software.
Assessment:
Students’ performance will be determined according to the subject’s Performance Standards, as outlined by the SACE Board. Grades A+ to E- will be used for reporting purposes.

- Specialised Skills Tasks 20%
- Design, Process and Product 50%
External Assessment Resource Study 30%
Students complete a Folio which contains documentation of their investigation and planning for their product.
Special Requirements: This course will be offered after school, from 3.30 – 6.30pm on a Monday or Tuesday.
Subject fees: Students are provided necessary materials however special and optional projects will require additional payment.
