Find Your Sound – In Music Explorations, you have the opportunity to shape your own musical journey by investigating styles, techniques, and ways of making music that inspire you. Through performance, composition, research, and experimentation, you’ll develop your musical identity and discover new ways of expressing ideas through sound. Students will choose a specialisation in either Performance or Music Production/Composition (this includes computer based composition/singer songwriters/sound engineering) and throughout the year, learn to:
- Explore areas of music that match your passions and interests
- Develop your skills through hands-on projects, performances, and creative works
- Use technology and traditional tools to shape your sound
- Reflect on your process and growth as a musician
- Investigate how music works across different cultures, genres, or time periods
This subject can be taken in conjunction with Stage 2 Music Solo Performance and/or Stage 2 Music Ensemble Performance
Pathways:

Assessment:
Students provide evidence of their learning through three assessments:
- School Based Assessments
AT 1: Musical Literacy: Concert Review, Comparative Analysis, Composition (30%)
AT 2: Explorations: Performance/Composition and Discussion (40%) - External Assessment
AT 3: Creative Connections: Performance/Composition and Evaluation (30%)
Students’ performance will be determined according to the subject’s Performance Standards, as outlined by the SACE Board. Grades A+ to E- will be used for reporting purposes.
Special Requirements:
Students must:
- Attend instrumental lessons with a qualified teacher
- Provide their own instrument or hire an instrument through the school’s hire program
