Bring Your Sound to Life – Solo Performance is all about developing your skills as the headline act. Whatever instrument you play, you have the chance to showcase your unique musical voice and showcase your talent through polished performances. You’ll dive deep into your chosen instrument or voice, learning how to refine your technique, shape your sound, and bring emotion and expression to every note. You’ll explore a variety of musical styles, build confidence, and master the art of performing for an audience – both live and recorded.
Throughout the year, you’ll:
- Build a performance program tailored to your strengths and musical interests
- Develop advanced skills in interpretation, expression, and stagecraft
- Reflect on your progress through recording, analysis, and discussion
- Perform with confidence, passion, and professionalism
Students engage in a rigorous process of selecting repertoire, applying performance techniques, and interpreting musical works from diverse styles, genres, and cultures.
This subject can be taken in conjunction with Stage 2 Music Ensemble Performance and/or Stage 2 Music Explorations
Pathways:

Assessment:
Students provide evidence of their learning through three assessments:
- School Based Assessments
AT 1: Performance (30%)
AT 2: Performance and Discussion (40%) - External Assessment
AT 3: Performance Portfolio and Evaluation (30%)
Students’ performance will be determined according to the subject’s Performance Standards, as outlined by the SACE Board. Grades A+ to E- will be used for reporting purposes.
Special Requirements:
Students must:
- Attend instrumental lessons with a qualified teacher
- Provide their own instrument or hire an instrument through the school’s hire program
