Content:
Students develop the skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing, and information and communication technologies to create and engage effectively with a range of spoken, written, visual, and multimodal texts in Spanish. They develop and apply linguistic and intercultural knowledge, understanding, and skills. Students reflect on their own attitudes, beliefs, and values, and develop an understanding of how culture and identity are expressed through language.
Students explore three interconnected themes:
- Relationships
- Lifestyles
- Experiences
— from the perspectives of ‘The personal world’ and ‘The Spanish-speaking communities’.
Assessment:
Spanish Beginners is an interstate assessed subject developed from the Collaborative Curriculum and Assessment Framework for Languages (CCAFL), which is a national model for the teaching, learning, and assessment of language subjects.
Students’ performance will be determined according to the subject’s performance standards. Grades A+ to E- will be used for reporting purposes.
Students demonstrate evidence of their learning through the following assessment types:
- Interaction
- Text production
- Text analysis
