Year 10 Peer Support (EIF)

LEVEL: Year 10

LENGTH: One Semester (Semester 1 only)

Recommended background: Acceptance into this subject is by application process, including referrals from home group and subject teachers

Content:

This subject allows students to complete their compulsory Exploring Identities and Futures (EIF) subject through the Peer Support program. It is designed for students who want to develop skills to become a strong advocate and mentor for others. The subject prepares students to become peer leaders so they can facilitate activities and take on a mentor role with Year 7 students through their transition to high school. They will work with Year 7 Home Group teachers to deliver the Year 7 Pastoral Care Program.

Students will be given opportunities to work with others as part of a team to lead activities that enhance engagement, wellbeing and connectedness for Year 7 students and develop their own capabilities. This will also develop students’ understanding of their identities.

Assessment:

Students’ performance will be determined according to the Stage 1 Exploring Identities and Futures performance standards, as outlined by the SACE Board. Grades A to E will be used for reporting purposes.

Students must achieve a C grade or better to complete the compulsory EIF requirement.
