Content:

Year 7 students study Health and Physical Education for a full year. The outcomes of the subject include developing students’ movement competence and confidence, and learning how to take positive action to enhance their own and others’ health, safety and wellbeing. 

Students will study the following topics:

  • Athletics
  • Batting and Fielding Games
  • Court Divided Games
  • Invasion Games
  • Sports and Games of Cultural Significance
  • Enhancing Participation through Constraints and Modifications
  • Relationships and Sexual Health
  • Wellbeing of Self (personal fitness plans)
  • Wellbeing of Others (school or community fitness plans)
  • Connecting to the Environment

The Relationships and Sexual Health unit is based on the SHINE SA program and aims to improve the students’ ability to develop healthy relationships and make well informed and safe decisions in the future.

Assessment:

Students’ performance will be determined according to the subject’s Achievement Standards as outlined in the framework of the Australian Curriculum. Grades A to E will be used for reporting purposes. Assessment will be based on class and homework tasks; movement skills and abilities; game awareness and understanding; collaboration and leadership skills.

Special Requirements:

Unley High School PE uniform must be worn during all practical lessons.
