Content:

In Year 7 Visual Art, students are provided with an introduction to the fundamental skills, techniques and processes of artmaking (practical work) and responding (talking and writing about visual art). Students explore the Visual Elements and Principles, Art styles, methods and materials, 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional Art, and working collaboratively.

Students will explore the theme of “identity” by looking at various artists and their works. Students will develop a variety of practical skills, problem-solving and decision-making through independent and team work activities. They will also learn critical thinking and analysis by exploring works of art and concepts from various cultures and periods, including Australian Indigenous art.

Assessment:

Students’ performance will be determined according to the subject’s Achievement Standards as outlined in the framework of the Australian Curriculum. Grades A to E will be used for reporting purposes.

Assessment tasks include:

  • Folio work Visual Journal
  • Peer and Self assessment
  • Researching topics

Special Requirements:
