Content:

In this course students will develop skills in working with a variety of materials and will learn a range of skills including;

  • Oxy-Acetylene Welding
  • MIG Welding
  • Lathe processes, such as facing, tapering and knurling
  • Milling processes
  • CAD/CAM skills through the use of Plasma Cutting technology

Students will have the opportunity to design and manufacture projects of their own design, working through the design process to develop a brief, generate ideas through research, and refine designs through sketches.

Projects may include:

  • Quick action clamp
  • Tack hammer
  • Hacksaw
  • Swivel stool
  • Brazier

Assessment:

Students’ performance will be determined according to the subject’s Achievement Standards as outlined in the framework of the Australian Curriculum. Grades A to E will be used for reporting purposes.

Practical: 70%
Theory: 30%
