In this course, you will explore and apply the key elements of drama through both practical and theoretical activities. You’ll be introduced to foundational performance styles, techniques, and forms, as well as the dramatic intentions behind them. Working in both small and large groups, you’ll develop and perform original pieces, building confidence in public speaking and strengthening your teamwork skills.
Literacy development is also a focus, as you’ll enhance your writing by evaluating and analysing live or recorded performances. The course also offers insight into historical and cultural performance conventions, encouraging you to incorporate these influences into your own creative work. Additionally, you’ll gain an understanding of off-stage roles by exploring design elements such as set, costume, lighting and music.
Assessment:
Students’ performance will be determined according to the subject’s Achievement Standards as outlined in the framework of the Australian Curriculum. Grades A to E will be used for reporting purposes.This includes assessment of achievement in exploring and responding, developing practices and skills, creating and making, presenting and performing.
