Year 10 Digital Technologies

LEVEL: Year 10

LENGTH: One Semester

Recommended background: Nil

Content:

Students learn to code using JavaScript. They will apply their coding skills to create digital solutions using Industry Standard software packages.

In addition to JavaScript, students will acquire skills in using two software packages: Adobe Animate and Adobe Dreamweaver.

Students will use Adobe Animate to create cartoons, banners, games, apps and other interactive content, which they can publish to a variety of different platforms (Web, Video, Social, iPhone, iPad, Android, etc.). They will apply JavaScript code in their digital solutions.

They will use Adobe Dreamweaver to build and publish interactive web sites, web pages incorporating HTML5, CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) and JavaScript.

Students design algorithms to produce an output. They learn, develop, and practise with the building blocks of a programming language (variables, expressions, and input/output commands), understand the concept of sequencing, and use the constructs of selection and iteration.

Students test and evaluate their digital solutions using simple testing techniques, and consider how effectively their solution meets the needs of the intended user.

Software: Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe Animate

Scripting Language: JavaScript

Assessment:

Students’ performance will be determined according to the subject’s Achievement Standards as outlined in the framework of the Australian Curriculum. Grades A to E will be used for reporting purposes.
