Stage 1 Digital Technologies B

LEVEL: Stage 1

SACE Credits: 10 credits

LENGTH: 1 Semester

Recommended background:  Year 10 Digital Technologies – Information Technology and/or Year 10 Digital Technology – Robotics & Electronic Systems preferred but not essential.

Content:

Students develop an understanding of advanced programming using Industry Standard software (Adobe Animate/Adobe Dreamweaver) and JavaScript/ActionScript.  They extend their programming skills to explore and code possible solutions. Students design algorithms to produce an output by turning their algorithm into code and testing their solution, which may take the form of a digital product, or digital prototype.  Students investigate problems that are of interest to them, and develop their digital solutions iteratively.

The subject consists of the following focus areas:

Focus area 1: Programming
Focus area 2: Advanced Programming

Assessment:

Students’ performance will be determined according to the subject’s Performance Standards, as outlined by the SACE Board. Grades A to E will be used for reporting purposes.

Tasks include:

Project Skills – 70%
Digital Solutions – 30%

Other Requirements:

It is highly recommended that students have access to Adobe Creative Cloud Software (i.e. Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe Animate, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign) at home. Unley High School is now able to offer an annual license for the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, which is available from Student Services for $10.00 per annum.
