Community Studies is a timetabled subject which offers students the opportunity to develop their own project-based learning, community-based activity. Students decide the focus of their community activity, which begins from a point of personal interest, skill or knowledge. The course and assessment plan are individually negotiated with the student. Stage 1 Community Studies is a 10 or 20 credit subject.
Assessment: Students demonstrate evidence of their learning through two types of assessment:
- Community Activity Folio (70%), which includes
- Contract of work
- Evidence to demonstrate participation in Community Activity
- Presentation of Community Activity (styles and audiences are flexible and designed to suit the individual student)
- Reflection (30%)
Subject Cost: Nil (expect where a student chooses a Community Activity that may incur some personal expenses)
