This subject is taught in French and students must have been accepted into the Immersion Program to do this subject.
Students study the Year 8 HASS course in the Australian Curriculum. It is divided between History and Geography.
In the History semester students study the Middle Ages period to the beginning of the Modern World Era. Students will study what values and beliefs emerged during this period, how they influenced societies and they will develop historical skills, including critical analysis.
The units covered are: Medieval Europe – The Black Death and Shogun Japan.
In the Geography semester, there are two units of study:
- Landforms and Landscapes
- Changing Nations -Urbanisation & Inquiry into Migration
Students’ performance will be determined according to the subject’s Achievement Standards as outlined in the ACARA framework. Grades A to E will be used for reporting purposes.
