Content:

Stage 1 Business Innovation will enable students to develop skills and knowledge that will enable them to engage in creating a modern business. The main focus is developing the student’s entrepreneurship through the SharkTank E-School nationally accredited program. Students will be immersed in using customer focussed design thinking processes and business planning models to identify, ideate, prototype and pitch business and social enterprise opportunities. They will develop an awareness of different business concepts including ownership, finance, digital and emerging technologies, communication and intellectual property. This course aims to develop an entrepreneurial and innovation focussed mindset in students.

Assessment:

Students’ performance will be determined according to the subject’s Performance Standards, as outlined by the SACE Board. Grades A to E will be used for reporting purposes. Students understanding and skills will be assessed in a variety of tasks that may include:

Assessment Type 1:

  • Business Skills: Idea Proposal (25%)
  • Business Skills: Value Proposition and Testing (25%)

Assessment Type 2:

  • Pitch (2 minutes) (25%)
  • Business model infographic (25%)

Leads to: Stage 2 Business Innovation. Alternatively, students may choose Stage 2 Modern HistoryStage 2 Society and Culture or Stage 2 Legal Studies.
