“The foundation for leadership, teamwork, and innovative thinking.“
This Stage 1 Drama course emphasises dramatic arts techniques and literacies. You’ll engage in workshops, incursions, and excursions, exploring play scripts and films. Develop evaluation and analysis skills through performance responses and production reports. Enrich performance, stagecraft, and dramatic elements knowledge, applying them in various styles and collaborative projects. The course culminates in a whole class production for a real audience in an authentic theatre setting.
Assessment:
Students’ performance will be determined according to the subject’s Performance Standards, as outlined by the SACE Board. Grades A+ to E- will be used for reporting purposes.
Assessment Type 1: Performance
Students collaborate under teacher guidance to develop and present a dramatic work. They take on roles within an ensemble and perform for an audience.
Presentation of Evidence: Presented individually or in groups via oral, multimodal, or written formats, showing understanding, creativity, and application of dramatic skills.
Assessment Type 2: Responding to Drama
Students analyse and evaluate professional dramatic works or events through oral, multimodal, or written responses.
Assessment Type 3: Creative Synthesis
Students create a concept for a dramatic product using a published or original text. They take on a dramatic role, explain their artistic vision, and discuss the use of innovative technology in the staging or screening.
