Students wishing to study Essential Maths B must successfully complete Essential Maths A.
Content:
This learning program has been designed to incorporate basic life skills involving practical everyday problems. The major topics are:
Calculations, Time, Ratio, Earning and Spending, Measurement, Data in Context, Investing and Borrowing, Geometry.
Assessment:
Students will be assessed using a combination of tests and reports with a weighting of 40% and 60% respectively. Their performance will be determined according to the subject’s Performance Standards as outlined by the SACE Board. Grades A to E will be used for reporting purposes. The SACE Board advises that it is compulsory for students to pass, with a C grade or higher, at least one semester of Stage 1 Maths.
Special Requirements:
A scientific calculator is required. We recommend one with an authentic display.
