SACE Credits: 10 credits (Delivered offline across the full year) – includes free instrumental tuition
Recommended Background: Students must have previous experience in performing in an ensemble as well as have been receiving instrumental lessons.

Perform, Rehearse and Create – Stage 1 Music Ensemble Performance is designed for students that have developed a commitment to one of the school ensembles and is all about collaboration, creativity, and connection.
Students can choose from the following ensembles:
- Concert Band 1 or 2
- Vocal Ensemble
- Percussion Ensemble
- String Ensemble
- Jazz Ensemble
- Rock Band 1 or 2
Students will learn practical performance skills on their chosen instrument within an ensemble to demonstrate their performance and musical literacy skills. In addition they will:
- Attend weekly instrumental/vocal lessons with an accredited teacher and maintain regular instrumental/vocal practice.
- Participate in regular rehearsals and the performances of an ensemble
It is suggested this course be taken in conjunction with Stage 1 Music wherever possible to maintain pathways to all the Stage 2 Music subjects.

Pathways:

Assessment:
Assessment at Stage 1 is school based. Students will be assessed against the SACE Stage 1 Music Performance Standards. Students will provide evidence of their learning through four assessments.
- AT1: At least three creative works (performances) (80%)
- AT2: At least one musical literacy task (eg analysis, critique, evaluation) (20%)
Special Requirements:
Students must:
- Attend instrumental lessons with a qualified teacher
- Provide their own instrument or hire an instrument through the school’s hire program
